1942 NASH PAGE

This Web Site is dedicated to the 1942 Nash. Due to World War II all US domestic car production ceased in 1942. The last passenger car for the duration of the war rolled off a Nash assembly line on Feb 1, 1942. Only 5,428 1942 Nash cars were built, all models. Needless to say all 1942 automobiles are rather rare. Domestic car production did not resume until the 1946 model. My 1942 Nash is pictured on page 3. (The picture above is a 42 Nash during a wind tunnel test)

The Nash was always relatively popular, and in 1946 Nash re-entered the market with its pre-war cars, but managed to upgrade them with more luxurious appointments.

As an interesting historical note, a Nash Ambassador was the pace car for the first post-war re-run of the Indy 500.

Below are images taken off an original 1942 color sales brochure. Deluxe exteriors included the wrap around bumpers w/4 bumper guards, the chrome side strips on the fenders, chrome strip along the running boards, chrome wings on the brake light, chrome and front parking lights on top of the front fenders and additional chrome strips above the back bumper wraping around the rear fenders. Standard equipped exteriors came with the same bumpers and parking lights as the 41. Page two has an image of some of the options. A quick way to identify the difference between an Ambassador 600 and the Ambassador six and eight's is the rear fenders. The 600 covered more of the rear tire. Enjoy
